I’m going to say this right now. I can see why this anime is popular, but I can’t make my self like it that much. The reason? There is no plot. Yes each episode has a little bit of a plot but, it’s not a trough plot for the whole series. I’m perfectly fine with it taking a few episodes to get in to the real nitty gritty of the story and the plot. So far it’s just been, monster! Saitama shows up, one punch, monster dead. That has all the first three episodes have been.

Maybe I’m just getting older and jaded, I kind of need more from my anime. No one out there make argument that I’m girl. I love shonen anime and manga. I’ve been reading One Piece since it came out in america and I’m still reading it. I have also read all of Dragon Ball and watched most of it. Fullmetal Alchemist is my favorite manga and anime (Brotherhood) of all time. (and I will happily talk to any one about it at any point in time) Yea, shojo is cute but shonen is were my heart is and always will be.

That being said, I don’t just love all anime or all manga. Just because it is anime or manga, I don’t have to like it. Now that I have defended my gender, let talk about the show.

The animation is wonderful. The fight scenes are so pretty and bloody they are just beautiful. I could just watch the show for how nice the animation is. However, there are long periods of time in the show were there are no beautiful fight scenes and they is not really plot either. The show is more this is the situation and we are going to put our characters in this situation. That is not plot. That is just thing happens, thing happens, thing happens. You can’t have a show were there is no plot pushing the characters forward and things just happening.

Also, Saitama is a boring main character. He needs flaws every one needs flaws. He is just an apathetic superman who has no emotional attachment. I can’t get behind him as a character.

That all being said, I’m still going to watch the show because aparently a ton of people like it. I just don’t, unless some plot shows up soon it’s not going to be good for me.
