Fox Spirit Matchmaker episode 1

Lets first talk about the title. This is a Chinese donghua or manhua, or manga or comic– what ever you want to call it, it all translates the same. So, there are three names for this show. The English is Fox Spirit Matchmaker, the Chinese Huyao Xiao Hongniang, and the Japanese enmusubi no youko-chan. This isn’t going to get confusing at all.

Death is Just the Next Part of Life

Children who Chase Lost Voices or Journey to Agartha (Hoshi o Ou Kodomo in Japanese literally meaning Children Who Chase Stars) came out in 2011 in Japan. It is written, produced and directed by Makoto Shinkai. This is the same man that did Garden of Word. (which if you have not seen, go watch it) Actually any thing by Shinkai would be fine, I have never been disappointed with his movies.

And the Ruckus Starts!

Baccano! is written by Ryogo Narita (writer of Durarara! you can read my review of it here) and illustrated by Katsumi Enami. It was first published in 2003 and is still on going. There is a two volume manga that is a side story for the series there is an other manga that is currently running that is an other side story for the series. There is also an anime that runs 16 episode, it came out in 2007. (I did a review of the anime you can check that out here) There is also are two drama CDs with two side stories on them. Also, there is a DS game that fallows the events of the anime and the second and third book.

Swing Your Sword and Fight!

Claymore, Kureimoa in Japanese, is written and illustrated by Norihiro Yagi. It was first published in 2001. The series ran for 13 years till 2014, it lasted for 24 volumes. The manga spawned a 26 episode anime in 2007, by the same name. There is also a game based off the series, Claymore: Gingan no Majo, that came out in 2009.

Good Set up, but what happens next?

The Familiar of Zero is written by Noboru Yamaguchi and illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka. It was first published in 2004. The series is still going strong with 20 volumes and counting. There have been four anime series based of the novels, each 12 episodes long. There are two light novel spin offs. Three manga based on it and an OVA. Also, there have been four games based on the series as well.
